May Meeting

Monday, May 12th, 2008

Our meeting on Monday, May 12th will provide a CPR refresher course aimed at Infants and Children. Julie Roeger, CPR Instructor will teach CPR basics with infant and child size "dummies. Hopefully, you will never need to use the skill but it is certainly something we should each know how to do in case of emergency. Please plan to attend the meeting to learn CPR! Additionally, information will be provided on various Child Safety topics as well as the sharing of first-hand experiences, lessons learned, and information gathered while raising our multiples.

Keeping our Children Safe will be the topic of our meeting on Monday May 12th. With twins, triplets and more - keeping your children safe is not only a challenge but is a vital responsibility for multiple parents. Every minute and every turn can hold a variety of dangers for your children whether they are in your home, your car or out in public! Based on the age of your children, safety can take on a variety of meanings. There is car seat safety, fall precautions, poison safety, stranger danger, traffic safety, bike safety, internet safety, animal safety and the list goes on. We pad corners, we use gates and we are constantly counting heads when out in public!

SAMOM meets at St. Francis Medical Center (13710 St. Francis Blvd, Midlothian 23114), in the Assisi Room - come in the main lobby and head down the hallway on your left, pass the front desk, past the cafeteria, and it's the last door at the end of the hallway.

Southside Area Mothers of Multiples (SAMOM) is an organization dedicated to supporting mothers of multiples (MOMs). Our members consist of expectant MOMs, MOMs of teenagers, stay at home MOMs and working MOMs. If you are a mother/expectant mother of twins, triplets or more, please join us!

The next SAMOM board meeting will be announced at a later date, location to be determined.

Our club is affiliated with the National Organization of Mothers of Twins Clubs (see link above left). We meet the second Monday of each month (Sept thru June) at St. Francis Medical Center in Midlothian, VA. We serve the greater Richmond area as well as Southside Virginia.

Our meetings include time for socializing as well as informative programs. Expectant/New Mom and Toddler Support Groups also meet prior to the meeting. For busy MOMs, especially those that travel a great distance to attend meetings, it is very beneficial to have fun, learn and get support one evening per month!
